Oğuz has been active in the carbon pricing space since 2016 and involved in several c-suite carbon consulting bodies under key responsibilities and professional interactions with international bodies such as UNDP, GIZ and World Bank back then. He is passionate about advancing global climate action and cooperation, and has facilitated several side events and workshops on carbon markets and pricing at international conferences and platforms, such as COP 24, COP 25, COP 26, COP 27 and Aviation Carbon. He has prepared a policy paper titled Macroeconomic Approach to Climate Crisis (2019) for Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Turkey and “User Guide for Turkish Aviation MRV Data Management System (2021)” for the Directorate General for Civil Aviation. He is a board member of Global Balance Association and an alumnus of Distinguished Professional Fellow on Climate Change as part of Fulbright’s Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship by Department of State.
Mr. Ruan Bestbier is a distinguished visionary in the realm of sustainable finance and ESG integration. With an illustrious academic background, he holds an MSc in Agricultural Economics and Econometrics from the University of Stellenbosch, and he has earned an MBA with top honours from the Stellenbosch Business School.
Mr. Bestbier’s notable achievements include pioneering Namibia’s inaugural Green and Sustainability Bonds, listed on the Namibian Stock Exchange, and initiating Nasdaq Sustainable Bond Network membership. He currently serves as Group Head of Sustainability at the Capricorn Group.
He has woven ESG principles into business strategies and product innovation. His expertise stems from crafting a bespoke Sustainability Integration Programme. In addition, he also serves as deputy chairman of Namibia’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council, an initiative led by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism.
Toni is a seasoned executive with 18+ years in the legal, renewable energy, and oil and gas sectors. She leads the ESG portfolio at Hyphen Hydrogen Energy in Namibia. Toni’s prior role was as Director for GE South Africa, and she served as Onshore Wind Sales Leader for GE Renewables. She holds master’s degrees in energy law and business, and in the last decade, she has worked in South Africa’s REIPPP Programme with leading wind energy companies such as Nordex, Vestas, GE, and ENERTRAG. Toni’s active engagement in the South African wind industry includes leadership roles in the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) and as Chair of the Economic Development Working Group. She is a Certified Director at the Institute of Directors of South Africa (IoDSA) and serves on various boards and trusts, including the South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre (SARETEC). For the past three years, she has been a mentor in the Women in Wind Global Leadership Program under the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). WindEurope featured Toni in its 2021 children’s book, ‘When I Grow Up: Inspiring Stories from Clean Energy Professionals.’
